The Institute for Geometry and its Applications, the University of Adelaide, is hosting a Workshop on Incidence Geometry on 9 - 12 December 2003 at the University of Adelaide, Australia. The workshop is being held in the week before the 28th Australasian Conference on Combinatorial Mathematics and Combinatorial Computing which is at Deakin University in Melbourne and it is anticipated that participants may be able to attend both events.
The purpose of this workshop to discuss recent and current research techniques in the area of incidence geometry and combinatorics. This will mainly, but not exclusively, include finite incidence geometries such as generalized quadrangles, projective and polar spaces, partial geometries and semipartial geometries as well as extremal structures in such geometries.
The workshop will include organised sessions of talks, of 50 or 25 minutes length, on incidence geometry techniques. There will be a scheduled session to discuss open problems, as well as opportunities for informal discussions between participants.
Please feel free to circulate this announcement to anyone whom you feel may be interested.
There is no registration fee, and all interested in attending are welcome. There is no expectation of participants presenting a talk, although it is strongly encouraged.
Although there is no registration fee, registration is necessary for organisational purposes and for the official records of the IGA.
